As coach Les Miles has hinted for several weeks, quarterback Anthony Jennings, defensive lineman Maquedius Bain and defensive back Dwayne Thomas have been reinstated prior to the start of preseason practice.

The quarterback competition between Jennings and Brandon Harris will resume in full, as both players will report to training camp Wednesday and practice with the team.

The three players were arrested in June, allegedly after breaking into a fellow student’s residence in Baton Rouge, La. The players, along with three other men, reportedly entered the residence to retrieve items that were stolen from Jennings, according to The Advocate.

“The matter has since been dropped and no formal charges were filed,” LSU said in a team-released statement Friday evening.

Miles, via the team release, indicated the three players “will undergo further in-house discipline.”

Again, the news isn’t a surprise. But it’s positive for LSU, as Jennings, Bain and Thomas all are key players for a Tigers team with hopes of challenging for a division title in the SEC West.

Harris, a true sophomore, took all the reps in the team’s informal 7-on-7 drills while Jennings was suspended. Prior to the suspension, most believed that Jennings held a slight lead ahead of Harris in the competition, even though Harris has more upside due to his superior athleticism.
