With the regular season coming to a close, LSU expects to make a decision on its coaching search very soon.

The Tigers are set to play Texas A&M on Thanksgiving night for the last game before the postseason and are hoping to improve interim Ed Orgeron’s record to 5-2, but either way, administration will reportedly pull the trigger on Les Miles’ full-time predecessor sometime in the next five or six days, according to Ross Dellenger of The Advocate.

“This is something we have not reported yet in a story, but I expect and have been told that the timeline is ‘Sunday through Wednesday’ of next week,” he wrote in his weekly mailbag series. “Keep in mind that Texas’ entry into this wild poker game could extend the timeline.”

Though Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher seems to remain as the No. 1 candidate, other names such as Tom Herman, Larry Fedora, and Orgeron continue to be used as potential hires.

LSU and Texas A&M will kick off 7:30 p.m. ET tonight on ESPN.
