Missouri turned in another impressive season in the SEC. Despite being in the conference for just three full seasons, the Tigers have captured two division titles and are 13-3 in conference play since 2013.

But the Tigers are at a recruiting disadvantage when compared to the other SEC schools. Missouri’s not as big of a name and the Tigers are constantly forced to do more with less.

One of the biggest positions of need for Missouri this offseason will be at wide receiver. The receivers for the Tigers this season were strong and led by a trio of three seniors — Bud Sasser, Jimmie Hunt and Darius White. However, all three will be leaving after the season and the Tigers will need a new crop of talent in 2015 for quarterback Maty Mauk.

In fact, if you count running back Marcus Murphy, Missouri will lose its top four receivers from 2014. Sophomore tight end Sean Culkin is the leading returning receiver with just 19 receptions for 173 yards and one touchdown.

Wesley Leftwich, J’Mon Moore and Nate Brown will be the primary wide receivers in 2015, but combined the three have just nine receptions for 100 yards and zero touchdowns. Missouri will have an immediate need at receiver next season.

Current WR commits

  • Three star — Ronnell Perkins, 6-2, 190 (University City Sr., St. Louis, Mo)
  • Three star — Emanuel Hall, 6-2, 190 (Centennial HS, Franklin, Tenn.)
  • Three star — Richaud Floyd, 5-10, 165 (Gulfport HS, Gulfport, Miss.)

Other positions of need

Defensive line — Missouri continues to churn out top defensive line players every year, but this next offseason, the Tigers will need to replace a few key guys. With the expected early departure of Shane Ray, Missouri will lose four lineman from its two-deep roster.

Safety — Braylon Webb will be a key loss in the secondary, and while the defensive backs are a rather young group, strong safety is still losing it’s top two guys in Webb and Duron Singleton. Three-star Cameron Hilton is the Tigers’ only safety recruit at this time.
