The Barry Odom era at Missouri got off to a slow start — as the Tigers lost their 2016 season opener at West Virginia by a score of 26-11.

To be fair, it was a daunting task for a somewhat young team to roll into Morgantown and come away with a win. Missouri did have some bright spots — namely in regards to the receiver pairing of Alabama transfer Chris Black and J’Mon Moore. The duo combined for 14 catches 206 receiving yards.

As Mizzou looks forward to this weekend’s home opener against Eastern Michigan, history certainly isn’t on Odom’s side.

Historically speaking, Mizzou coaches have struggled in their home debuts at Faurot Field in Columbia. The all-time record is 4-7-1, and only one head coach (Bob Stull) has won their first home game since 1957.

Fortunately for the Tigers, they should take care of business this weekend against an inferior opponent in EMU. As of Friday evening, Mizzou is a 24-point favorite.
