Ole Miss added its second defensive back in the 2016 class on Tuesday after receiving a verbal commitment from four-star Jaylen Jones, a talented corner out of Allen, Texas.

Jones was pursued heavy by several SEC programs including Texas A&M, Mississippi State and Auburn. His final six featured Ole Miss, Auburn, Ohio State, TCU, USC and Texas A&M. At 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, Jones figures to be a special teams threat for the Rebels when he arrives next season.

Jones is the Rebels’ fifth commitment this month joining Jarrion Street (RB), Chandler Tuitt (OG), D’Vaughn Pennamon (RB) and Bryce Matthews (OT).

Jones is the Rebels’ 18th verbal commit in the 2016 class, a group highlighted by five-star quarterback Shea Patterson that is currently ranked sixth nationally and third in the SEC by 247Sports.

He’s the third commit from the state of Texas, a suddenly fertile recruiting territory for Hugh Freeze (2015 signing class included four-star WR Damarkus Lodge and three-star DT Ross Donelly).
