Former Clemson quarterback and recent Ole Miss signee Chad Kelly made an appearance in Buffalo City Court on Monday afternoon following an incident at a Buffalo nightclub last month.

Kelly was involved in a fight outside the nightclub and was eventually arrested following a brawl and alleged threats of retrieving an AK47 from his truck. He faced a handful of charges, all misdemeanors, and Monday was offered a plea deal by the Buffalo City Court judge.

Kelly accepted the plea deal and now must apologize to the Buffalo police department in addition to serving 50 hours of community service.

The court appearance was documented by local Buffalo news station WVIB and reporter Lou Raguse.

According to Raguse, Kelly was offered the plea deal because video of the fight outside the nightclub showed he was not the instigator, and there is no evidence of Kelly threatening to retrieve the AK47 from his truck as alleged in the initial report.

Kelly, who departs for Ole Miss tomorrow, did not give a comment after the hearing.

The former Clemson star and nephew of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly was the top-rated junior college quarterback in 2014 after leading East Mississippi Community College to a national championship. He signed with Ole Miss on Dec. 17 and is expected to compete for the starting quarterback job in the wake of Bo Wallace’s graduation.
