Specialists don’t often get a lot of love. Not today, though.

On the heels of last night’s College Football Awards Show, in which the Lou Groza and Ray Guy Awards were handed out to the best kicker and punter in the game, Saturday Down South is going to honor the ten best kickers or punters in the SEC.

10. Gary Wunderlich, Ole Miss

Wunderlich had a fantastic season for the Rebels, managing the majority of the kicking duties. He averaged 62.5 yards on 35 kickoffs, and registered 13 touchbacks. Wunderlich also made five of six field goals on the season, his season long coming from 47 yards.

9. Kyle Christy, Florida

Christy served as a weapon punting the football in 2014 for the Gators. He averaged 44.4 yards on 56 punts, and tallied seven touchbacks, 14 fair catches and downed 21 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. Christy did a great job of flipping field position for the Florida defense. He only had one punt blocked all season.

8. Marshall Morgan, Georgia

Morgan led the Bulldogs in scoring with 102 points on the year, highlighted by making 63 of 64 extra-point attempts. Morgan was also true on 13 of 18 field goals this season, his long coming from 53 yards. He was a combined 10 of 13 from 20-39 yards out.

7. Colby Delahoussaye, LSU

Delahoussaye had a solid year kicking for the Bayou Bengals, making 11 of his 15 field goal attempts. The team leader in scoring made a season long 50-yarder, and finished an astounding seven of eight from 30-49 yards out.

6. Devon Bell, Mississippi State

Bell was masterful punting the football in 2014 for Mississippi State. He averaged 43.0 yards per punt on 49 punts with a long of 70 yards. He recorded five touchbacks, 15 fair catches and downed 17 punts inside his opponent’s 20-yard line. Bell didn’t have a single punt blocked.

5. Elliot Fry, South Carolina

Fry finished the 2014 nearly perfect on his field goal duties. He made 17 of 22 kicks this season, his long from 47 yards out. Fry finished five-of-five from 20-29 yards, five-of-six from 30-39 yards and seven-of-nine from 40-49 yards. Fry finished this season as the Gamecocks’ leading scorer.

4. Jamie Keehn, LSU

Keehn was stellar for the Tigers punting the football this season. He averaged 45.0 yards per punt on 68 punts. Keehn totaled three touchbacks, 25 fair catches and landed 25 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

3. Daniel Carlson, Auburn

The true freshman added his name to the long list of standout Auburn kickers. Carlson led the Tigers in scoring, highlighted by his perfect 53-53 mark on extra-point attempts. The Colorado Springs native made 17 of 21 field goals, his long coming from 46 yards. Carlson also handled the majority of punting duties for Auburn. He averaged 41.6 yards per punt on 37 punts, with a long of 62 yards. Carlson downed 11 punts inside his opponent’s 20-yard line.

2. Sam Irwin-Hill, Arkansas

Irwin-Hill was outstanding punting the football for Arkansas this season. Averaging just more than 40 yards per punt on 54 punts, Irwin-Hill recorded 23 fair catches, 23 punts down inside the 20-yard line and two touchbacks. Irwin-Hill’s season was capped by a fake punt touchdown run against Texas A&M in September.

1. JK Scott, Alabama

The Ray Guy Award finalist couldn’t have had a better true freshman season punting the football for Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. Scott averaged 47.0 yards per punt on 48 punts, with a season long of 70 yards. The native of Colorado recorded 16 fair catches and downed 26 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line. He also totaled five touchbacks.
