It’s important to note we’re talking hypotheticals here — like most recruiting projections — and all of these players could sign with SEC teams, but several other elite programs are interested and are working hard to ensure that doesn’t happen.

10. Kyler Murray, QB, Five-star, Texas A&M commit (Allen, Texas) — The longtime Aggies commit and Johnny Manziel clone frightened Texas A&M on Wednesday when he tweeted a photo of his recognizable No. 1 jersey during a surprise visit to Texas. Charlie Strong won’t likely pull Murray away from Kevin Sumlin, but he’s trying (Oklahoma, too).

9. Ryan Davis, WR, Four-star, uncommitted (St. Petersburg, Fla.) — Davis had an in-home meeting with Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh on Wednesday and has an official visit to Alabama this weekend. Several SEC programs are hoping Davis stays home and doesn’t head to the Big Ten.

8. Jordan Cronkrite, ATH, Four-star, uncommitted (Miami, Fla.) — This multi-position threat will travel to Gainesville this weekend after already listening to pitches from the coaching staffs at West Virginia, Louisville and Notre Dame. There’s a good chance the Gators land him with a promise of early competition for playing time, but other programs — with similar spread-based offenses — are in pursuit.

7. Damarkus Lodge, WR, Four-star, uncommitted (Cedar Hill, Texas) — Texas A&M and Ole Miss appear to be trending for this athletic pass-catcher, but Baylor and USC remain a possibility. He visited Texas this week alongside Murray, a player the Aggies hope convinces Lodge to join forces.

6. Antonio Callaway, WR, Three-star, uncommitted (Miami, Fla.) — Jim McElwain and the Gators will get their shot at Callaway on Jan. 30, but the standout wide receiver at Booker T. Washington is trending toward Miami, his hometown program he visited last weekend. West Virginia is also a finalist.

5. Sam Madden, OL, Three-star, uncommitted (Barnegat, N.J.) — On Tuesday, Madden received offers from Georgia and Florida, enough to schedule an official visit to Athens this weekend. Madden recently decommitted from Wisconsin and has been on the radar of several other teams including Louisville and Nebraska.

4. Tyrone Wheatley Jr., TE/DE, Four-star, uncommitted (Manlius, N.Y.) — The son of the former Michigan football and track star who played 10 NFL seasons is expected to follow in his father’s footsteps in Ann Arbor. Several SEC schools have offered, along with USC and Oregon among others.

3. Holton Hill, WR, Four-star, uncommitted (Houston, Texas) — Alabama, LSU and Texas A&M remain hot on Hill’s trail but it’s the Longhorns who are the perceived frontrunner and Baylor closing in. Hill will visit College Station this weekend and travel to Tuscaloosa on Jan. 30 before making his final decision.

2. Isaiah Prince, OL, Four-star, uncommitted (Greenbelt, Md.) — Prince enjoyed his official visit to Alabama over the weekend, but two other programs — much closer in proximity — stand in his way prior to signing day. Ohio State and Maryland are making a late push and Prince will visit both schools over the final two weeks.

1. Malik Jefferson, LB, Five-star, Texas commit (Mesquite, Texas) — Texas A&M isn’t giving up hope for this touted linebacker who committed to Texas a few days before Christmas. Jefferson has taken officials to UCLA and Alabama as well, but it’s going to come down to the Longhorns and Aggies in February.
