1. Bo knows. And he has some not-so-nice things to say about Jameis Winston’s character.

As if the rape allegations, stolen crab legs, BB gun incident, Burger King shoplifting, sexually-profane scream in the student union and autographs-for-money investigation weren’t enough to convince you that Jameis Winston has character issues, let former Auburn running back and two-sport legend Bo Jackson fill in the gaps.

Jackson this week told national radio host Jim Rome that he’d given Winston advice previously, but has apparently given up on getting through to the Florida State quarterback.

I really don’t know who is giving this young man guidance. I have communicated with him, and I just talked to him like I was his dad. The things that you need to do. … If I told you what I told him, it’ll probably singe the hairs in your ears.

I’m the type of person, I will go out of my way to help anybody. Normally, I don’t like giving people advice if I haven’t been down that road myself. But if I give you advice on something that I know more about than you by just falling out of bed in the morning, if you can’t take that advice and learn from it, then I’ve got nothing else to do with the situation. You’re on your own.

I will lend you a hand. And if you take that hand for granted, I will yank it back and go about my business, go on about my life. That’s how it is. Jameis Winston needs to make some changes in his life. Because it’s affecting him now, and it’s definitely going to affect him down the road.

2. The wildest extra point try you’ll ever see took place last weekend.

Northern Colorado blocked Sacramento State’s extra point in the second quarter. After a number of laterals and desperate pitches, a Northern Colorado player has a path to the corner of the end zone for two points, but the ball slips out of his hands as he dives for the pylon and … well, see for yourself.

3. Tides of change stirring … slowly … at Michigan.

It sounds like Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon and football coach Brady Hoke won’t have jobs for long. (Be prepared for another press conference question at an inopportune time, Les Miles.)

The school’s governing body met this week, and according to multiple media reports, Michigan has begun evaluating potential replacements for its AD.

Regent Mark Bernstein had plenty to say after the meeting:

It’s a circumstance that requires patience and also a degree of urgency. John Wooden, the UCLA basketball coach, used to say, ‘Play quickly, but don’t rush.’ This is the kind of thing that needs resolution, but it’s not the type of thing that serves anybody well to come out immediately with a decision.

(The team’s play and Shane Morris’ injury have been) like a spark in a very, very dry forest.

There’s not a lot of water around right now. I think the actions of the athletic department, I think it would be generally agreed, have drained whatever reservoir of goodwill there is for Michigan football in particular. It makes navigating this issue far more difficult.

4. Seven N.C. State players suspended due to BB gun incident.

I guess Winston isn’t the only one. Seven guys? And I’m guessing they were on the same side?! My only thought: that must’ve been a heck of a BB gun fight.

5. Texas A&M transfer Matt Joeckel will stay on the TCU bench — for now.

Trevone Boykin has been one of the nation’s biggest breakout players in 2014, but injured his wrist in a thrilling loss against Big 12 unbeaten Baylor.

But Boykin will try to play through it after an erroneous initial report suggesting he’d miss up to six weeks.

6. Tevin Coleman’s chances at an NCAA rushing title took a big hit this week.

Then again, playing in an offense without a quarterback hasn’t seemed to slow Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon.

Indiana lost Nate Sudfeld to a separated shoulder, and backup Chris Covington isn’t going to play — at least according to his mother, who would not elaborate to the Indianapolis Star.

That doesn’t bode well as Coleman prepares to face Michigan State’s defense, which two weeks ago held Nebraska’s Ameer Abdullah to his lowest rushing total in two years.

Poor timing for Todd Gurley, who could’ve vaulted back into the competition for the rushing title.

7. ESPN’s Ivan Maisel made an intriguing case for Condoleezza Rice as the next SEC commissioner.
