The most accomplished conference commissioner in history is officially stepping down June 1.

Mike Slive moved up his retirement from August 1 to June 1, giving way to new SEC commissioner Greg Sankey. Sankey will take the conference’s reigns Monday.

Following an SEC-record $455 million in revenue this year, Slive leaves a lasting legacy in college football’s power conference.

When asked if he’s interested in being on the College Football Playoff selection committee, he added, “Absolutely not.”
