The SEC might have missed on the top overall prospect for the first time since 2009, but Alabama is hoping to change that in 2017.

The No. 1 overall prospect in next year’s class, phenom Dylan Moses, has announced that Alabama is his leader.

The running back/outside linebacker out of Baton Rouge told ESPN that six schools stand out to him at the moment, and half of them are SEC institutions.

“Alabama, Texas, Georgia, Florida, UCLA and USC are still my top schools,” Moses said. “Alabama is still my leader because they are more structured. They have very good discipline over there so they get their kids doing what they have to do. I like their strength program, coach (Scott) Cochran, coach (Nick) Saban. It’s just a really great coaching staff over there and I just really feel comfortable there.”

However, the Crimson Tide apparently have company in trying to land Moses. That’s because Michigan, which landed the top prospect for 2016 in defensive tackle Rashan Gary, is also of interest to Moses.

The 6-foot-2, 220-pounder got offers from several top schools as an eighth-grader, including LSU, Alabama and Texas.
