It’s time to look at key questions involving Saturday’s SEC Championship Game:

Perception: This could be one of the most lopsided games in title game history

Two-touchdown underdogs. Default champions of one of the worst Eastern Divisions in recent memory. Inconsistencies on offense. The laundry list of negatives is quite long this season for the Mizzou Tigers heading into this weekend’s showdown against Alabama and we haven’t even mentioned ‘The Indiana Game’ yet. Nick Saban’s team holds an edge at nearly every position on the field and is playing for  a berth in the first-ever College Football Playoff as the SEC’s best chance at the league’s eighth national championship in nine seasons.

Reality: Mizzou’s heard this story all season (and stiff-armed competition)

Believe it or not, no one has to believe in the Tigers on Saturday except Gary Pinkel, his staff and the players taking the field inside the Georgia Dome wearing black and gold. Quarterback Maty Mauk’s been criticized throughout the season as a turnover-prone passer with questionable decision-making from the pocket, but he’s directed this team to six consecutive wins including back-to-back in the SEC with Georgia breathing down the Tigers’ necks in the No. 2 slot. In a true David vs. Goliath matchup in Atlanta, these upset-minded Tigers have more than a slingshot to take into battle.
