There was no drama in Myles Brennan’s recruitment ever since he committed to LSU back in April. Even after the Tigers fired Les Miles after four games, the four-star quarterback from Bay Saint Louis, Miss., quickly threw his support behind the university and interim head coach Ed Orgeron. No doubt Brennan’s commitment to the school helped keep LSU’s elite recruiting class together during the transition over to Orgeron.

So what did Brennan get in return for his loyalty? After being named as LSU’s head coach, Orgeron quickly extended a scholarship to Alabama quarterback commit Tua Tagovailoa. That move led to Brennan re-opening his commit to LSU.

Bill Conides, Brennan’s high school coach, described LSU’s offer to Tagovailoa as a “Left hook to the back of the head,” as a guest on ESPN Baton Rouge show Culotta & the Fan, and claimed the move was totally unexpected by Brennan and his support staff.

Recently, there has been speculation that LSU is now going after Mississippi State quarterback commit Keytaon Thompson:

If LSU is still interested in signing Brennan, they sure are going about it in an odd fashion. After years of instability under center, if the Tigers let Mississippi’s all-time passing touchdown leader walk away, how happy will LSU fans be with Coach O?

Making matters even worse, SEC rival Florida has been rumored to now be interested in Brennan. Although Conides denies any contact with the Gators:

In conclusion to his radio interview with Culotta & the Fan, Conides claimed LSU has as good a shot as anyone to sign Brennan. When asked if Brenna could wind up in Baton Rouge, “No doubt, absolutely. He didn’t decommit,” Conides said. “He’s just exploring other options, backup plans really.”

At this point it’s fair to ask, just how committed is LSU to its highly rated quarterback commit?
