Looking at incoming 2015 classes only, here are the SEC’s best at stealing prospects from other states this recruiting season:

1. ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Total commits or early enrollees from out-of-state: 19
Percentage of incoming class from out-of-state: 73%
Out-of-state notables: Five-star QB Blake Barnett (Calif.); Five-star CB Minkah Fitzpatrick (N.J.); Five-star WR Calvin Ridley (Fla.); Five-star RB Damien Harris (Ky.)

Grade, A+: In terms of quality, the Crimson Tide’s incoming class from outside Alabama is the SEC’s best, a group that includes five-star prospects at several key skill positions. Nick Saban is one of the few coaches in the country who can often handpick who he wants every recruiting season from around the country and Alabama’s 2015 top-ranked class overall reflects that.

2. TENNESSEE VOLS

Total commits or early enrollees from out-of-state: 20
Percentage of incoming class from out-of-state: 71%
Out-of-state notables: Five-star DT Kahlil McKenzie (Calif.); Five-star WR Preston Williams (Ga.); Four-star CB Micah Abernathy (Ga.); Four-star QB Sheriron Jones (Calif.); Four-star DT Shy Tuttle (N.C.)

Grade, A: Expected to bring in the SEC’s second-best class behind Alabama, Tennessee reached into California and Georgia for several playmakers who could make an instant impact in Knoxville next season. Six of the Vols’ seven incoming defensive linemen are from out-of-state (2 Ga.; 1 Fla.; 1 Va.; 1 Calif.; 1 N.C.)

3. AUBURN TIGERS

Total commits or early enrollees from out-of-state: 15
Percentage of incoming class from out-of-state: 71%
Out-of-state notables: Five-star JUCO RB Jovon Robinson (Tenn.); Four-star S Jordan Colbert (Ga.); Four-star ATH Tim Irvin (Fla.); Four-star RB D’Anfernee Griffith (Fla.)

Grade, A-: Five-star tailback Jovon Robinson from Memphis provides depth in a loaded backfield for Gus Malzahn who has reached into several states over the last few months for prospects. The Tigers are hoping the acquisition of Will Muschamp pays dividends over the final two weeks as they chase after five-star defensive ends CeCe Jefferson and Byron Cowart, both from Florida.

4. SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS

Total commits or early enrollees from out-of-state: 23
Percentage of incoming class from out-of-state: 82%
Out-of-state notables: Four-star LB Sherrod Pittman (Florida); Four-star ATH Jalen Christian (Md.); Four-star ATH Octavius Johnson (Ga.); Four-star OL Christian Pellage (Florida); Four-star DT Dante Sawyer (Ga.)

Grade, B+: During the Steve Spurrier era, South Carolina has developed a recruiting-rich pipeline to Georgia where hte Gamecocks have landed several key players including Connor Shaw and Mike Davis. The Gamecocks would’ve received an A grade here if they would’ve held onto four-star cornerback Mark Fields (Charlotte, N.C.) and four-star pass rusher Arden Key (Lithonia, Ga.).

5. KENTUCKY WILDCATS

Total commits or early enrollees from out-of-state: 15
Percentage of incoming class from out-of-state: 88%
Out-of-state notables: Four-star TE C.J. Conrad (Ohio); Four-star S David Dowell (Ohio); Three-star DE Jason Strowbridge (Fla.)

Grade, B-: It’s not the SEC’s best class, but Kentucky’s incoming haul is ranked higher than Eastern Division rivals Mizzou, Vanderbilt and Florida at this point thanks to 88 percent of the class being non-Bluegrass natives. Seven of the Wildcats’ 17 total commits are from Ohio.
