With National Signing Day next week, top prospects are winding down their visits and will make decisions that impact their lives for the next three or four years.

But there’s always that one prospect who’s the most important of the recruiting class. Last year, it was Leonard Fournette or Myles Garrett, and let’s dive into this year.

Who is the SEC’s most important recruiting prospect in the 2015 recruiting class?

Jon Cooper (@JonSDS): Martez Ivey, Florida

Martez Ivey is down to Auburn and Florida, and the Gators desperately need to land his services. He’s a primo prospect who should start at left tackle his freshman season, much like Ole Miss’ Laremy Tunsil. Because DJ Humphries left early for the NFL Draft, Florida has to land Ivey in this recruiting class. Jim McElwain needs a cornerstone of this recruiting class, and he needs a staple at left tackle. Ivey is one of the most important players in this recruiting class, and he’s the most important player on Florida’s board.

Brad Crawford (@BCrawfordSDS): Terry Beckner, Jr., Missouri

This coveted five-stat defensive tackle is said to be leaning toward Mizzou, a team in desperate need of pass rushers up front now that Shane Ray (NFL Draft) and Markus Golden have exhausted their eligibility. Beckner has the talent to compete for early playing time and provide immediate depth in the trenches. Much of the Tigers’ success over the past two seasons has hinged on their ability to generate havoc in opposing backfields. Beckner could be the next in the line of playmakers along the defensive line.

Ethan Levine (@ELevineSDS): Byron Cowart, Auburn or Florida

Byron Cowart is a five-star defensive end prospect who has whittled his short list down to just two schools: Auburn and Florida. If Cowart commits to Auburn, he could be one of a handful of top defensive prospects taking their talents to the plains to compete for new Tigers defensive coordinator Will Muschamp. As if Gus Malzahn’s potent spread rushing attack wasn’t dangerous enough, pairing it with a talent-laden Muschamp defense could turn Auburn into a title contender yet again. If Cowart commits to Muschamp’s former team, the Florida Gators, he could be the premier recruit in Jim McElwain’s first star signee in his rebuilding effort in Gainesville. He may not be the single most talented player in the class, but the co-MVP of the Under Armour All-America game may be among the most impactful.

Christopher Smith (@CSmithSDS): Martez Ivey, Florida

Left tackles aren’t sexy, but depending on whom you trust, Ivey is the best offensive prospect of the entire 2015 recruiting class. Given his proximity to Gainesville (Ivey lives in Apopka, Fla.), Florida’s lagging recruiting class due to the head coaching change and the Gators’ recent mediocrity on offense, he represents a huge building block — figuratively and literally. Landing Ivey would give Jim McElwain recruiting momentum for 2016 and also serve as a sort of symbol as he tries to dominate the state of Florida and turn around the offensive side of the ball.

Brett Weisband (@WeisbandSDS): Jack Jones, Tennessee

There’s no area for Tennessee that needs to improve rapidly more than offensive line, and Jones looks poised to step in and make a difference immediately. A top-10 offensive tackle in the class of 2015, Jones is already on campus putting in work with the Volunteers. With very few established veterans in front of him and the talent to play in the SEC, Jones should be in line for early playing. With the smarts to pick up whatever variation of the zone-read scheme Tennessee’s new offensive coordinator puts in place and good foot speed to get out in front of Joshua Dobbs and Jalen Hurd, Jones can be an anchor at either tackle for the Vols.
