Earlier this spring, we tried to tackle the SEC’s ‘All-Time Best’ at each position over a six-week period at SDS, sifting through media guides, old highlight films and decades worth of newspaper clippings and archived research to present intriguing content pieces to our audience during the dog days of the offseason.

Using our all-time positional rankings as a guide, here’s how the SEC’s all-time 1950s and prior depth chart would look.

Editor’s note: Our all-decade teams are based off our all-time top 25 individual player rankings at each position. For instance, three quarterbacks who began their career in the 1950s or prior were featured in our Top 25 all-time quarterbacks rankings, but no linebackers from that decade or prior appeared in our linebackers’ ranking. They’re listed in the order in which they were selected. Please refer to the individual lists to see where these players fell with regards to others at the same position.
