With one month until National Signing Day, the recruitments of some of the nation’s top high school football prospects are heating up. SDS analyzes the SEC recruits that can expect pursuit from more than one SEC school during the homestretch of the 2015 recruiting cycle.

Arden Key (committed to South Carolina)

Hometown: Lithonia, Ga.
Position: Defensive end
Ranking: No. 120 overall; No. 13 prospect in Georgia
Schools involved: South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, LSU
The lowdown: The longtime South Carolina commitment made some noise at the Under Armour All-America Game with a strong showing as he displayed great lateral quickness and a nose for the football with a crucial fumble recovery.

Key stands at an ideal 6-foot-5, 230-pounds for a playmaking rush end. He’s athletic, to say the least, and his ability to get a quick first step off the line of scrimmage and create havoc in opposing backfields is very impressive. So it’s not surprising that despite a commitment to South Carolina, the Lithonia, Ga., native is hearing from multiple SEC schools as National Signing Day approaches.

For a while, the hot rumor was that Key was considering a flip to Georgia to join one of the nation’s top recruiting classes and a dynamite defensive line haul. However, Key shot down those rumors during Under Armour practice when he told TheBigSpur.com that he wasn’t flipping to the Bulldogs.

As always in recruiting, it’s hard to believe everything you hear from recruits. Key is still planning on taking official visits to multiple SEC schools once the dead period is over.

According to 247sports.com, His first OV will go to LSU, whom he’ll visit on Jan. 16. Following that weekend, he’ll go see the Gamecocks on Jan. 23. Interestingly enough, despite shooting down Georgia rumors, Key is giving the all-important final visit to the Bulldogs when he travels to Athens, Ga., on Jan. 30, the last weekend before National Signing Day.

Auburn is the latest school to enter the recruiting fray for Key. While the Tigers were strongly considered by Key before he initially committed to South Carolina, they fell out of the picture as the season went on.

But now with Will Muschamp as defensive coordinator and Auburn contending for five-stars Byron Cowart and Iman Marshall, two of Key’s teammates at Under Armour, interest from Key seems to be ramping back up. The four-star defensive end is now contemplating taking an official visit to Auburn before NSD and with Muschamp’s record as a defensive recruiter, don’t count Auburn out quite yet.

Key may be committed to the Gamecocks, but in the final month of his recruitment, there figures to be a lot of drama between South Carolina and a number of SEC schools as they pursue Key.
