SIZZLING
- Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State: Prescott’s put himself in position for this weekend’s Heisman moment at Alabama, a game that could decide the award in the SEC this season depending on. Over the weekend, Prescott’s top highlight was a 48-yard touchdown run against UT-Martin, one of three scores he was responsible for against the Skyhawks.
- Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama: Cooper’s nifty 23-yard touchdown through traffic in the second quarter gave Alabama its first points at LSU, but the SEC’s top secondary kept the un-guardable wideout in check the rest of the way. Cooper finished with eight catches for 83 yards, but had two uncharacteristic drops.
WARM
- Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn: In a system with interchangeable parts, it appears another Auburn tailback will lead the SEC in rushing for a second consecutive season. After nine games, Artis-Payne holds a 200-yard lead over Robinson for the league-best rushing total and is coming off his best game as a collegian Saturday afternoon against Texas A&M following a 221-yard performance. He’s carried the football 82 times over his last three starts, scoring four touchdowns.
- Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi State: Robinson saw his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown run end at seven during a much-needed light workload against UT-Martin. He’s healthy and ready to roll for Saturday night’s tussle in Tuscaloosa against the SEC’s top-ranked rushing defense.
- Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn: Two lost fumbles from the senior quarterback in crunch time led to the Tigers’ second loss of the season, a setback that essentially ended Marshall’s Heisman bid this season. He did manage 286 yards of total offense and three touchdowns, but the turnovers stick out.
