The Sporting News is one of the first media outlets to release its Preseason Top 25 for 2016, and six SEC teams checked into the ranking, including No. 1 Alabama.

“Until someone — anyone — dethrones the Crimson Tide” was listed as the main reason the media outlet picked Alabama over Clemson.

Outside of Alabama, only Ole Miss will open up in the top 10 at No. 7. LSU, Tennessee, Georgia and Arkansas are all ranked from No. 12 to 23. Four of the six are from the SEC West, while the Volunteers and Bulldogs check in from the East. The most notable team missing here is the reigning SEC East winner Florida, who will undoubtedly have its say in the division.

While everyone is pointing to a potential down year for Ole Miss after losing so much talent to the NFL Draft, it has the league’s most seasoned quarterback in Chad Kelly, who showed he’s more than talented enough to lead the program to a division crown.
