If you give a sports information director enough time to properly analyze the numbers, you’re likely to come away with all kinds of interesting stats and records about your favorite college football team.

And since they’ve had all offseason to look at their team’s numbers and dig through the record books, we’ve got some pretty good ones to talk about this week.

Here is a noteworthy streak or record to keep an eye on for each SEC team as we enter play in Week 1:

Thursday games

  • South Carolina vs. North Carolina: Though North Carolina owns a 34-18-4 all-time advantage against South Carolina, Gamecocks coach Steve Spurrier is undefeated (5-0) against the Tar Heels.
  • Vanderbilt vs. Western Kentucky: The Commodores have lost three consecutive season-openers (South Carolina, Ole Miss, Temple), all of which were played in the friendly confines of Vanderbilt Stadium.

Saturday games

  • Georgia vs. Louisiana-Monroe: The Bulldogs are 39-2 in non-conference home games since 2001.
  • Ole Miss vs. UT-Martin: The Rebels enter play with an 18-week streak of being ranked in the Top 25. It is the longest streak since 69 straight from 1957-62.
  • Arkansas vs. UTEP: Bret Bielema is 34-2 against non-conference opponents in nine seasons as a head coach.
  • Auburn vs. Louisville: The Tigers have 94 season-opening victories, which ties Arkansas and trails only Alabama (96) for the most in the conference.
  • Missouri vs. Southeast Missouri State: The Tigers are 3-0 all-time against teams from the state of Missouri. This will be only the fourth game against an in-state program in the history of Mizzou football.
  • Tennessee vs. Bowling Green: The Vols have won 20 consecutive season openers played in the state of Tennessee, dating back to 1986.
  • Kentucky vs. Louisiana-Lafayette: Though the Wildcats have never played the Ragin’ Cajuns, Kentucky does own a 5-1 all-time record against the Sun Belt.
  • Texas A&M vs. Arizona State: Though it will be the first meeting between the Aggies and Sun Devils, Kevin Sumlin is 2-1 in three prior meetings with a Todd Graham coached team, stemming from their time coaching in Conference USA (Sumlin at Houston, Graham at Tulsa).
  • Florida vs. New Mexico State: The Gators have a 25-game winning streak in season openers, which is the second longest streak in the country.
  • LSU vs. McNeese State: The Tigers have won 43 consecutive games against non-conference opponents in Tiger Stadium.
  • Alabama vs. Wisconsin: The Crimson Tide is a perfect 5-0 in season-openers held in a dome during Nick Saban’s tenure.
  • Mississippi State at Southern Mississippi: The Bulldogs have won seven consecutive regular-season, non-conference games.
