Using numbers as a guide, here are 20 facts to consider heading into Week 2 of the SEC schedule:

  1. At 10,830 square feet, Auburn‘s Jordan-Hare Stadium will debut the largest video board in college football at this week’s game against Jacksonville State.
  2. CBS will visit Vanderbilt Stadium for coverage of a football game for just the third time on Saturday. Interestingly enough, the last time CBS was there, Vanderbilt beat Georgia 31-27 in 2013.
  3. Ole Miss enters play against Fresno State averaging 10.3 yards per offensive play after its season-opening win against UT-Martin.
  4. Tennessee has averaged 38.7 points per game during QB Joshua Dobbs’ last seven starts. The Vols are 6-1 during that span.
  5. It took Arkansas just 26 offensive plays to score 42 points against UTEP last week. That’s efficient.
  6. Georgia played 19 true freshmen in its season opener against UL-Monroe, topping the previous high of 13 during the Mark Richt era (2012).
  7. While most may think of Texas A&M as a passing team, the Aggies won big against Arizona State behind the strength of 45 rushing attempts, including 29 from senior RB Tra Carson.
  8. East Carolina threw for 427 yards in January’s meeting with Florida, but the Gators did win the game 28-20 and former Pirates QB Shane Carden is no longer the ECU quarterback.
  9. In spite of just one career start against LSU, Mississippi State QB Dak Prescott has 224 career rushing yards in three meetings with the Tigers, including back-to-back 100-yard games.
  10. Arkansas QB Brandon Allen was one of 21 FBS passers to throw for 300 yards in Week 1, but he was the only one to do it in under 25 pass attempts (18).
  11. Ole Miss had 10 different players score a touchdown against UT-Martin.
  12. Texas A&M freshman WR Christian Kirk became the first Aggies receiver to reach 100 yards receiving in his first game.
  13. Florida RB Kelvin Taylor had 0 yards (on four carries) against East Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl. It was Adam Lane, who has since transferred, that had 109 rushing yards against the Pirates.
  14. Vanderbilt has more players on its roster from Georgia (18) than it does from Tennessee (17).
  15. Though it wasn’t scheduled this way, LSU will open its season with a SEC opponent for the first time since 2007, when they won 45-0 at Mississippi State.
  16. Alabama has 85 wins since 2008, which is the most in FBS during that time period.
  17. Mississippi State‘s win over LSU last season was only the fifth loss in 39 September games for the Tigers under coach Les Miles.
  18. South Carolina has gone 16 years without losing consecutive games to Kentucky. After last season’s loss, that is at risk on Saturday.
  19. Missouri has scored no fewer than 41 points in its previous three meetings with Arkansas State, all of which have come in the Gary Pinkel era.
  20. Kentucky has lost seven consecutive SEC openers, with the Wildcats’ last win coming in 2007 against Arkansas.
