College football’s strongest division enjoyed another rousing weekend after another team – Mississippi State – found its way into both the AP and Coaches Polls after a five-point victory against LSU. Ole Miss had a bye week, but Arkansas, Auburn, Alabama, Mississippi State and Texas A&M all enjoyed victories.

Here’s what we learned about every SEC West team after Week 4’s games.

Alabama Crimson Tide
Week 4 result: Defeated Florida, 42-21
What we learned: Alabama came into this game as a two-score favorite and they didn’t disappoint. Despite turning the ball over four times, Alabama was lights out on offense, racking up 645 yards. Quarterback Blake Sims was incredible and truly showed why he should be the starting quarterback. On top of throwing for 445 yards, Sims connected with Amari Cooper all game as the star wide receiver hauled in 10 catches for 201 yards and three touchdowns. If Alabama’s offense can be as explosive as they were against the Gators, they will be an incredibly tough opponent for any team.

Arkansas Razorbacks
Week 4 result: Defeated Northern Illinois, 52-14
What we learned: The Razorbacks took on a pesky Huskies squad last night in a matchup that could have very well been a trap game for the Hogs. However, Arkansas never left the game in doubt getting off to a hot start thanks to a kickoff return by Korliss Marshall and a scoop-n-score off a fumble by defensive tackle Darius Philon. It was a strong statement from the Hogs, who showed they wouldn’t be susceptible to looking ahead to Texas A&M. Speaking of the Aggies, Arkansas’ game against Texas A&M next week will be a major opportunity for the Hogs to make some noise in the SEC if they can pull off the upset.

Auburn Tigers
Week 4 result: Defeated Kansas State, 20-14
What we learned: The Tigers benefited from Kansas State shooting itself in the foot on a few missed field goals and some untimely turnovers, but Auburn escaped out of Manhattan unscathed. Nick Marshall came through when his team needed it the most and Auburn’s defense looked impressive, shutting down KSU’s electric wide receiver Tyler Lockett and dual-threat quarterback Jake Waters. The Tigers get a break with Louisiana Tech coming to town next week, but then Auburn runs through the gauntlet of their schedule, facing six straight ranked teams. By that point, it’ll be clear just how serious Auburn is about making a return December trip to Atlanta.

LSU Tigers
Week 4 result: Lost to Mississippi State, 34-29
What we learned: Until LSU turned things over to freshman quarterback Brandon Harris, the LSU offense was rather stagnant. Harris was able to light a spark in the offense and score two touchdowns within the final two minutes of the game to give LSU a fighting chance of coming back. Unfortunately for LSU, the comeback was cut short and the Tigers are left dealing with the question of who will start at quarterback in the following games and finding out what exactly happened to their defense, which gave up 570 yards. Until those questions are answered, I think we’re still waiting on finding out exactly what we can expect from LSU this season.

Mississippi State Bulldogs
Week 4 result: Defeated LSU, 34-29
What we learned: If the Bulldogs wanted to make a statement, they sure took advantage of their opportunity. Dak Prescott, Josh Robinson and Jameon Lewis led a dominating offensive attack into a night game at Tiger Stadium and demoralized the No. 8 ranked LSU Tigers. It always seemed year after year, Mississippi State was the constant tease, but it appears this could be the season they rise up to the challenge and put it all together against the SEC West. Dak Prescott is playing like a Heisman candidate and the Bulldogs’ defense was suffocating for the most part last night. The Bulldogs will get a week off before a tough two-week stretch with home games against Texas A&M and Auburn.

Ole Miss Rebels
Week 4 result: Bye week
What we learned: Ole Miss was on a bye week this past weekend, but after the way Mississippi State played at LSU, there’s no longer any certainty that the Rebels are the best team in the state of Mississippi anymore. They’ll face Memphis next week before a home-field showdown against Alabama.

Texas A&M Aggies
Week 4 result: Defeated SMU, 58-6
What we learned: For the third straight week Texas A&M faced another cupcake opponent, but this time the Aggies returned to their old ways of scoring a lot of points. Kenny Hill threw for 265 yards and one touchdown, but he also threw his first interception, proving he may not be invincible after all. Perhaps more impressively, the Aggies recorded eight sacks against SMU. Texas A&M will be tested for the first time since their season-opener when they take on Arkansas next week in Arlington, Texas. The Aggies defense will be tasked with stopping arguably one of the best rushing attacks in the country, so we’ll know how complete a team Texas A&M is after next week.
