Here’s what a few notable head coaches said after Saturday’s key games:

KEVIN SUMLIN following his team’s epic upset win at third-ranked Auburn: “We’ve been talking about it for a couple of weeks. Situations like that you talk about creating your own energy, you talk about belief, practice habits. Going on the road there was a definite difference in the sideline from an energy standpoint in the pregame. I couldn’t be prouder of these guys and the coaching staff to go into a situation where the odds are against us and to practice the way they practiced this week and to stay focused, particularly in this environment. It’s a great environment to play and handle things the way they did from start to finish.”

MARK RICHT on Georgia’s 63-point throttling of Kentucky in Lexington: “Starting the game, there was a lot of energy in going up 21-0. I thought our defense made a good stop after the fumble on the kickoff return. We forced a field goal instead of a touchdown. I thought that was a big play and drive for our defense in the first half. Obviously, to start the game with a kickoff return for a touchdown was huge.”

WILL MUSCHAMP after the Gators posted their second straight convincing win, this time in Nashville: “Turnovers. They had four turnovers for 13 points that certainly changed field position for us in our favor multiple times. The penalties really disappointed me. We’ve actually had a pretty good run of that until I got asked that question this week. Self-inflicted wounds right before half, you just have to pull off in those situations. I’m really proud of our football team.”

GUS MALZAHN after Auburn’s Playoff hopes were dashed following a three-turnover loss to Texas A&M: “We fought back. We got in a hole early. Obviously the fumble at the end was big. The fumble where we were checking the communication was big. We had three turnovers. I thought the defense at the first part of the game, (Texas A&M) was getting quite a few yards, and then in the second half we held them to two field goals. Big play in the game was right before half when they blocked the field goal and returned it for a touchdown.”

NICK SABAN on his senior quarterback Blake Sims during Alabama’s win at LSU: “It was tough. They were playing a lot of man‐to‐man, a lot of close coverage. We threw a lot of balls in the first half trying to get them over the top, but none of them really did. But he (Sims) hung in there. You got to have a lot of resiliency when playing in our league. I mean, these our good teams that we’re playing. I’m really, really proud of the way he played. Things weren’t really going well for him, and Blake usually gets frustrated. I’m really proud of his resilience today. He hung in there and made the plays he needed to make to win us the game.”

LES MILES on the crucial personal foul penalty near the end of the game: “There are things that we can control, things that we have to improve on and things that are youthful mistakes that we will certainly fix and work on. I am going to want to look at the personal foul down on the goal line before I comment. If one of my guys did that, I am going to tell him, and I am going to be upfront. That is not what I am told so I am going to investigate because that penalty changed the complexion of the game. If we don’t get the 15‐ yard penalty there, we are on the five or seven (yard line). We are talking about driving it in for a seven‐pointer. Then, even if the mistake is made on the kickoff, the game would be out of reach. That penalty was at a tremendously pointed time in that game. I am going to reserve view until I see the film, and I will make that point thereafter.”
