Sounds like the Gamecocks will be rather boring in the uniform department this season.

Ryan Fischer, South Carolina’s assistant director of equipment operations, said Thursday not to expect an alternate helmet this fall. Long-rumored chrome and/or matte black lids won’t be seen in 2015.

Fischer also revealed that South Carolina will don its garnet on white look for next week’s nationally-televised opener in Charlotte against North Carolina.

Nike recently enhanced the Tar Heels’ gameday look with argyle patterns that they’ll debut against the Gamecocks. North Carolina is planning to go blue on white.

South Carolina will continue to wear its all-garnet alternate look on occasion at home and have added blank pants full-time to the gameday wardrobe this season. The Gamecocks’ all-black alternate has been updated a bit to match Under Armour’s 2013 makeover, which favored contrasting shoulder stripes instead of vents:

The Gamecocks have one football season left on its current contract with Under Armour, which expires on June 30, 2016. South Carolina’s set to make $1.1 million this season in the final year of the contract.

The only interesting tweaks during South Carolina’s stint with the brand was the battle grey alternate worn a couple years ago in Baton Rouge and chrome cleats (Cam Newton’s signature line) that were unveiled prior to the Capital One Bowl.
