SOUTH CAROLINA SENIOR QB DYLAN THOMPSON

Stats: 248-of-417, 59.5 percent, 3,280 passing yards, 24 TD passes, 11 INTs, 23 sacks, 139.3 rating

Big-time game: Dylan had an awesome senior campaign. His best game in my opinion was against Georgia in Columbia. He was 21-of-30 for 271 yards with four total touchdowns against one turnover. He was throwing darts all over the field and that was one of his more accurate games as well. Don’t forget about that fourth-down quarterback sneak to seal the deal.

Not his best effort: His worst game of this season had to be against Kentucky. Dylan went 23-of-37 for 218 yards a touchdown, but he also threw three picks, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The Gamecocks gave up a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter and that game really stung.

Improvements: Thompson has improved so much since he first got on campus and I’m extremely proud of him. He became a great leader and really worked on his craft. His biggest improvement this season was his decision-making and accuracy.

Strengths: Dylan is a great teammate; there isn’t anyone that will tell you otherwise. His strengths is that he is a great person and a very hard worker. He has the arm strength to make all the throws as well as improved accuracy. His locker-room presence is solid too. He’s a smart guy and has a high football IQ.

Weakness: His footwork and balance. I could see that he wasn’t always balanced when he had the chance to be. His footwork could improve and I think that’s very fixable.

Overall: Thompson has improved so much over the course of his tenure at South Carolina. I think that overall he played very well this season. Obviously the season didn’t go the way that many people thought it would, but Dylan definitely played well and gave the Gamecocks chances to win games.
