After benefiting from Blake Camper’s flip on Monday, South Carolina’s coaching staff is working hard this week to ensure four-star offensive lineman Christian Pellage (Brooksville, Fla.) and three-star cornerback Damon Arnette (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) stay put as Gamecocks in a 2015 class already damaged by seven decommitments.

Pellage and Arnette will be in Columbia, S.C. on official visits this weekend following trips to other programs of interest coming out of the dead period.

Pellage has become a primary target for coach Jim McElwain and the Gators and is intrigued by Florida’s lack of depth up front which could lead to early playing time. Arnette has been committed to South Carolina since July, but several others are hot in pursuit including Jim Harbaugh, who Arnette spoke with at Michigan after taking a trip to Ann Arbor over the weekend.

Arnette met with Steve Spurrier along with two Gamecocks assistant coaches earlier this week:

Arnette’s mother posted a photo of Arnette, Spurrier, defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward and defensive backs coach Grady Brown on her Instagram account:

Arnette scared Gamecock Nation on Wednesday after clearing up a previous tweet that has since been deleted:

The situation is getting a bit tricky with Pellage who seems split between Florida and South Carolina. Mississippi State is reportedly hoping to get Pellage to take an official on Jan. 30, but it seems unlikely.

“After my official to South Carolina, I will reevaluate the two visits and make sure I’m making the best choice for myself,” Pellage told 247Sports.
