The NCAA won’t allow former South Carolina RB Marcus Lattimore to be a member of the program’s coaching staff because it presents an unfair recruiting advantage.

Lattimore confirmed the news to David Cloninger and The State on Friday.

While he’s permitted to be an ambassador for the Gamecocks, he’s prohibited from being an official member of the program. He’s also allowed to speak to the South Carolina team, which is something he’s done through The Marcus Lattimore Foundation.

In any case, the Gamecocks legend has said previously that he doesn’t have interest in coaching.
