The Alpharetta, Ga. native has started 23 games over the last two years and will sit-out this season due to NCAA transfer restrictions. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining with the Gamecocks. Helms took officials visits to Texas A&M and Mississippi State before deciding on South Carolina during his visit to Columbia.
At 6-foot-4, 305 pounds with playing experience, Helms provides South Carolina with instant strength up front when he’ll be eligible to compete for the starting job as a redshirt junior in 2016.
According to 247Sports’ Tony Morrell, Helms will enroll at South Carolina in June.
