Johnny Manziel can’t stay out of his own way.

The second-year pro quarterback and former SEC lightning rod was demoted to third-team by the Cleveland Browns this week after another video emerged highlighting Manziel being the life of the party — literally — during the bye week.

Manziel had been announced as the starter for next week’s game against Baltimore, but coach Mike Pettine apparently has had enough.

During Tuesday’s press conference, veteran Browns quarterback Josh McCown offered support for Manziel and says the spotlight on him since he’s entered the league should be blamed on social media.

“I’m behind the guy 100 percent and want nothing but the best for him … With young guys, especially in this day and age – it’s not just Johnny – the access and the fact the things you might try to do in private and or public but maybe you’re trying to do them behind the scenes but it could get out there just because of social media and phones and things like that. It makes it a lot tougher. It’s way different than when I came into the league.”
