Five-star wide receiver Christian Kirk is officially coming to the SEC.

The Scottsdale, Arizona native announced Wednesday that he’s committing to Texas A&M, snubbing his hometown Arizona State Sun Devils (located just 20 minutes from his hometown). Kirk was also considering Auburn and UCLA during his decision process.

Head coach Kevin Sumlin didn’t hide his excitement upon learning of Kirk’s commitment.

He will join the SEC’s No. 1 passing offense from 2014, which averaged 306 yards per game through the air, 25 more than any other team in the conference. He’s one of of three five-star prospects to commit to the Aggies, all of which play on offense.

Texas A&M signed three-star JUCO wideout Damion Ratley on Wednesday morning, and also earned a commitment from four-star high school wideout Kemah Siverand. With Kirk onboard, the Aggies now have 19 commitments from high school stars, including 13 commitments from four- and five-star prospects.

Last year, A&M signed five-star wideout Speedy Noil and three-star JUCO transfer Josh Reynolds, who combined to catch 91 passes for 1,321 yards and 17 touchdowns. Kirk is hoping to achieve similar results as a freshman in 2015 if he is able to see the field among a crowded Aggies wide receiver corps.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, Texas A&M now has the fourth-best recruiting class in the nation with Kirk included, but the class is only third-best in the SEC.
