Four-star linebacker Roquan Smith (Montezuma, Ga.) named his top three schools on Tuesday and much to Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis’ chagrin, the Aggies were not included.

Smith has narrowed his options to Georgia, Michigan and UCLA, but Texas A&M is expected to be in the mix down the stretch according to Smith’s prep coach, Larry Harold. Chavis recruited Smith while at LSU and when he left for the Aggies, the defensive standout canceled a visit to Baton Rouge.

“Coach Chavis was all over Roquan when he was at LSU,” Harold said in a recent interview with the AJC. “When Coach Chavis left, Roquan canceled his trip to LSU. Coach Chavis has contacted him since the move, and we had an extensive talk last weekend. He’s trying to get Roquan take a trip out there. They’ll be here (Wednesday), and we’ll see if we can get his ironed out.”

Chavis is expected to have an in-home visit with Smith Wednesday afternoon in hopes of luring him to College Station for an official visit. Smith took an official visit to Georgia in December and has one scheduled at UCLA during the final weekend before signing day.

UCLA coach Jim Mora and Michigan’s Jim Harbaugh recently visited with Smith per his Twitter:
