Tennessee wide receiver Von Pearson has been named as suspect in a rape allegation reported early Friday morning, according to a release from the Knoxville Police Department.

Criminal charges have not yet been filed against Pearson. According to the release, Pearson was identified by the victim.

On April 24, 2015, at 6:00 A.M., the Knoxville Police Department was alerted to an alleged rape which reportedly occurred at University Walk Apartments, 2308 Forest Ave. During the initial investigation, KPD investigators took statements from the victim, several witnesses, and alerted the Sexual Assault Center. This investigation is in the early stages and is ongoing. More information will be released when available.

The allegations against Pearson make him the third Tennessee football player to be involved in rape allegations in the past year. In November, defensive back Michael Williams and linebacker A.J. Johnson were accused of rape at an off-campus apartment complex. Both were suspended from the team. Williams and Johnson were both indicted in February.

Pearson was expected to be a contributor for Tennessee this fall after a strong debut season in Knoxville. As a junior college transfer, he had 38 catches, 393 yards and five touchdowns in 2014.
