TENNESSEE LOOKS TO SNAP FLORIDA’S NINE-YEAR STREAK

The Tennessee Volunteers (2-2) look to capture their first win over the Florida Gators (3-1) since 2004. While the Gators saw national success over the past decade, the Vols suffered their worst stretch in program history, dropping nine consecutive games against their SEC East rival.

This season, the Vols field a talented, young lineup that benefits on natural skill and speed over inexperience. Tennessee’s freshman continue to progress each week and have seen increased roles as the season progresses. Jalen Hurd leads the Vols with 328 rushing yards and two touchdowns, seeing an increase in yards each game this season.

Several other freshman players are also contributing in starting roles. Florida, on the other hand, is coming off a bye week that followed a 34-10 loss to Alabama. Jeff Driskel has struggled in recent weeks and will be a pressured by an improved Tennessee defense.

The win would be monumental for second-year coach Butch Jones, who needs a signature win for his team to be bowl eligible this season. Florida’s struggles wouldn’t make the win any less important for the program or its fan base moving forward.
