When Vanderbilt was unwrapping its presents on Christmas, one of them was a commitment from one of the top centers for the Class of 2016.

Sean Auwae, a three-star center, announced his commitment to Vanderbilt on Friday. Auwae was originally committed to UCLA but backed out of his pledge in November. He chose the Commodores over many schools, including UCLA, Mississippi State, Utah and Arizona State.

“It was really a tough decision to for my family and I because all schools are such amazing schools and offer me great opportunities,” Auwae wrote. “And after much prayer and guidance I have decided to commit to the University of Vanderbilt.”

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound senior from Kapolei, Hawaii, is rated as the No. 5 prospect at his position, according to 247 Sports.

Auwae is the 15th recruit to verbally commit to the Commodores for 2016 and the third offensive lineman.
