Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, winless Vanderbilt has a 80.8 percent chance to beat UMass on Saturday.

MASSACHUSETTS SHOULD BE ONE OF VANDY’S ‘EASY’ WINS

The Commodores have various questions in all phases that need to be answered, but Vanderbilt comes into this game with better players as a multi-touchdown favorite despite the recent deficiencies. Starting on offense, Karl Dorrell’s squad needs to score a touchdown, something they haven’t accomplished this fall. Vanderbilt’s struggles are well-documented thanks to rotating quarterbacks under center and the Commodores haven’t established an identity. Getting Ralph Webb the football as many times as possible is a start and perhaps letting Johnny McCrary take a few more reps. The redshirt freshman passer was jittery in the opener against Temple, but could really kickstart this offense with athleticism.
