Five-star defensive back Kristian Fulton, a Metarie, La., native, has decided to stay close to home. He committed to LSU Wednesday afternoon in an announcement at his high school, Archbishop Rummel.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Fulton chose LSU over Florida and Arkansas.

He visited Florida last weekend, which had everyone in Baton Rouge concerned because they were counting on another in-state commitment. He had taken official visits to LSU and Arkansas the two previous weekends.

Fulton was the No. 3 cornerback in the country and the No. 28 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings. He is also rated as the No. 27 overall prospect by ESPN, who also have him as the No. 3 cornerback.

LSU lost out on standout defensive back Trayvon Mullen early in the day – he went with Clemson over LSU –  so the Fulton announcement got a bit bigger as the day wore on.
