Report: Ole Miss WR D.K. Metcalf received medical redshirt in 2016

Rebels’ WR D.K. Metcalf could be an absolute monster in 2017, and he recently received great news about his freshman season, too.
According to Gridiron Now’s Brad Logan, Metcalf was awarded a medical redshirt for the 2016 season due to his broken foot. He signed with the Rebels in the 2016 recruiting class and will be a redshirt freshman this upcoming season. He broke his foot in the second game of the season against Wofford.
Metcalf, A.J. Brown and Van Jefferson could create the best trio of wide receivers in college football this year. QB Shea Patterson could have a big year.

Video emerged this spring of Metcalf power cleaning 350 pounds. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 224 pounds, and it certainly looks like he’s ready to have a big season. Sports Illustrated recently named Metcalf as one of the biggest freaks in college football, too.
The Rebels have some gifted young receivers, and the 6’3”, 224-pound Metcalf is the most explosive of the bunch. The son of former Ole Miss and Chicago Bears offensive lineman Terrence Metcalf, the younger Metcalf was a standout hurdler and triple jumper in high school, broad jumps 11’1” and has vertical jumped 37.5 inches. He also power cleans 350, bench presses 330 and was timed at 4.46 in the 40 this off-season.
