Former LSU DB Tyrann Mathieu believes he is set for a strong rebound season.

Mathieu played in 10 games last season for the Arizona Cardinals, but he managed just 33 tackles, a sack, and one interception. Still, his confidence in his abilities has not waned.

“I’m the best player in the world,” said Mathieu via AZCardinals.com. “That’s how I feel.”

Who’s going to argue against the Honey Badger?

Mathieu is certainly one of the best defenders in the NFL when healthy. In 2015, Mathieu had 80 tackles, a sack, five interceptions, 17 pass deflections, and a forced fumble.

Mathieu does have seven interceptions in four NFL seasons to go along with 215 tackles, three sacks, and 34 pass deflections.

The problem for Mathieu has been his inability to stay healthy. Hopefully the former LSU Tiger can stay healthy this season and try to live up to his claim as the best player in the world.
