Texas governor Greg Abbott wants to bring back Texas-Texas A&M rivalry

One of the best rivalries in college football used to be the annual Texas vs. Texas A&M game back when the two schools were in the Big 12 together.
However, much like the Mizzou-Kansas rivalry, the Aggies and Longhorns’ intense rivalry ended following Texas A&M’s move to the SEC.
Now, though, there’s been some chatter about bringing it back, and on Wednesday, Texas governor Greg Abbott (a Texas alum) said he wants to do what he can to get the game back:
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott: "My next goal as governor is to reunite the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry. Hook 'em Horns."

Considering the fact that the Lone Star Showdown dates back to 1894, it’s a shame that it isn’t an annual occurrence anymore.
With Abbott doing what he can to get the rivalry back on track, it might be only a matter of time before we see the Aggies and Longhorns sharing a football field once again.
