Report: Shea Patterson expected to be ruled eligible for 2018 season by NCAA

It appears Shea Patterson is going to get his way after all.
Once an elite recruit in the 2016 recruiting cycle and now a former Ole Miss quarterback, Patterson left Oxford via transfer following the 2017 season and the firing of Hugh Freeze. It didn’t take him long to announce he was headed to Michigan to play for Jim Harbaugh.
Adding to the complexity of the issue, Patterson is asking the NCAA to wave its typical practice of forcing a player to sit out a season following a transfer. Patterson’s claim states he was misled by Freeze, the former coaching staff and athletic administration at Ole Miss. The school has since requested that Patterson not be given his immediate eligibility by the NCAA, although the ultimate decision is to be made by the NCAA and not Ole Miss.
Following a long waiting process, Patterson is expected to be ruled eligible for the 2018 season by the NCAA, according to Michigan insider Chris Balas of Rivals.

If this is indeed what happens, Florida could also stand to benefit from the news as former Ole Miss receiver Van Jefferson also transferred from Oxford this offseason and landed in Gainesville.
