To pull off an upset against the No. 7 team in the country, the quarterback needs to turn in a good outing. Saturday against Georgia, Florida QB Feleipe Franks failed to do that.

The redshirt sophomore signal-caller’s box score reads 13-of-21 passing for 105 yards with a touchdown and an interception. As a runner, Franks rushed eight time for 30 yards and a touchdown. He also had a very costly fumble. Franks and the Gators lost to division rival Georgia 36-17.

The second-year starter acknowledged that won’t cut it against teams like UGA, the defending SEC champs.

“I’ve got to be a lot better,” he told reporters. “The numbers are right here. It’s not good enough to win a big time game like this.”

The Florida coaches have focused on the turnover margin all season. Franks expects turnovers to be an even bigger focus in Monday’s practice.

“We try to avoid turnovers,” he said. “That is something I need to improve. We have to keep grinding and working and come back on Monday ready.”
