Nick Saban provides injury updates on QB Jalen Hurts, WR DeVonta Smith
The Alabama Crimson Tide were without QB Jalen Hurts and WR DeVonta Smith during Saturday’s big win over LSU.
However, both players were back at practice on Wednesday and their statuses are unclear for this weekend’s game against Mississippi State.
After Wednesday’s practice, coach Nick Saban addressed the media, saying both players did more during the session, but they’re still taking things slow:
Nick Saban on Jalen Hurts (ankle)/Devonta Smith (hamstring): They did a little more today. They're doing a little more everyday. We don't want to push them and make it worse.

If Hurts can’t go on Saturday, that puts the Tide in a tricky position. Superstar QB Tua Tagovailoa’s knee isn’t fully healthy, so if he goes down, third-string QB Mac Jones will have to step in.
There’s still a chance both players could play on Saturday, though, but their final status hasn’t been determined yet.
