Justin Fields in, Tate Martell out?

That appears to be the case, as Martell’s name is now listed in the NCAA’s transfer portal. Jeremy Birmingham of LettermenRow is also reporting the news. If you are unfamiliar with the NCAA transfer portal, it allows programs to contact student-athletes from other universities while not risking the athletes’ eligibility moving forward. Entering your name in the transfer portal does not guarantee a transfer, but it is the first step to doing so in college football.

Of course, Martell is likely exploring his options due to the fact Ohio State accepting the transfer of former Georgia QB Justin Fields. Fields, a former five-star recruit, is seeking a waiver from the NCAA in order to play football immediately for the Buckeyes next fall.

If you missed the update on Fields, his attorney believes the former Georgia quarterback will have an answer on his waiver request in the near future.

Martell was a four-star signee for Ohio State in the 2017 recruiting class. He was rated as the nation’s No. 2 dual-threat QB coming out of high school that cycle and was at one time committed to Texas A&M and Washington during different times of his high school recruitment.
