John Rhys Plumlee made Ole Miss history Thursday night in the first quarter of the Egg Bowl.

The true freshman eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards on the season, becoming the first Rebels quarterback to ever accomplish the feat. Only five players in Rebels history have accomplished the feat. That also puts Plumlee in elite company, too, as he joins Johnny Manziel as the only SEC freshman quarterback to hit the benchmark. Manziel was a redshirt freshman, too, and Plumlee is a true freshman.

Plumlee surpassed the mark with the first carry of the game against Mississippi State. On the season, Plumlee has thrown for 789 yards entering Thursday night.

The Rebels and Bulldogs are scoreless in the first quarter.
