Head coaching turnover almost always has an effect on college football recruiting, and it is no different at Auburn as Gus Malzahn’s replacement has yet to be named.

One 2021 offensive line prospect will be looking elsewhere after Malzahn’s firing, as 4-star Jaeden Roberts from Houston, Texas announced his decommitment from the Tigers on Wednesday.

“With the recent decision to hire a new coach at Auburn University my parents and I sat down and decided it would be in my best interest to re-open my recruitment and find a school that would fit me” said Roberts in his statement.

According to the 247Sports Composite, Roberts is a 6-foot-5, 340 pound prospect that is rated the No. 14 guard in his class and the No. 38 player in Texas.

Roberts has entertained offers from programs such as Alabama, Arizona State, BYU, and Colorado.

He has not offered a timeline for his upcoming college decision at this time. It will be interesting to see if Auburn can get Roberts back in the class following the program’s hiring of its next football coach.
