Tuesday was roster cut day around the NFL, as all 32 teams scrambled to get down to the 53-man limit for active rosters.

Naturally, that means a few former SEC players were let go around the league, and the San Francisco 49ers cut ties with a pair of former Alabama standout defensive backs.

Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, a veteran who has only been with the team for a couple of weeks, was released. Meanwhile, second-year DB Jared Mayden was waived, per a release from the team.

Mayden signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. He was on the active roster for 2 games for the 49ers in 2020, spending the rest of the time on the practice squad.

Clinton-Dix was a first-round pick of the Green Bay Packers in the 2014 NFL Draft. He spent the 2014-18 seasons in Green Bay. He has also spent time with the Washington Football Team, Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys.
