Vanderbilt was supposed to get the Clark Lea era off to a good start on Saturday night when East Tennessee State, an FCS program, visited Nashville.

Instead, ETSU cruised to a 23-3 win, dominating the Commodores in every aspect of the game.

How bad did things look for Vanderbilt? Well, on this play in the fourth quarter, the Commodores’ attempt to throw a pass turned into a fumble that was returned by ETSU for an easy touchdown in what can only be described as the most embarrassing play of the week:

Absolutely nothing went right for the Commodores on Saturday night. And, if this team can’t even beat an FCS squad, an 0-12 record isn’t out of the question. Especially after the Commodores went 0-9 against SEC competition in 2020.

Vanderbilt heads to Colorado State next weekend.
