Ole Miss ends drought, delivers historic win over Mississippi State
Ole Miss got a big outing from Dylan DeLucia, and ended a streak of 6 straight losses to Mississippi State in Oxford as the Rebels got their first home victory against the Bulldogs since 2015.
DeLucia went 9 innings and allowed 5 hits and 2 runs in a 4-2 victory, as he improved to 3-0 on the season. He didn’t allow a walk and struck out 8 in the game. Left fielder Kevin Graham hit a 3-run home run to right field in the first inning, as all 6 runs were scored on 4 home runs.
Ole Miss catcher Hayden Dunhurst added a double and a home run to chip in more offense for the Rebels.
The teams will return for Game 2 at 6:30 p.m. local time on Friday, as the Rebels are seeking their first series victory against Mississippi State since 2015. Ole Miss left-hander Hunter Elliott, who is 1-3 with a 3.33 ERA, will take the mound opposite Preston Johnson, who is 3-2 with a 4.21 ERA.
