Jeremiah Hughes, elite CB out of Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman, announces SEC commitment

Jeremiah Hughes, an elite cornerback out of Las Vegas’ Bishop Gorman, has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.
Hughes committed to LSU, and became the Tigers’ sixth commitment in the last 7 days. Hughes, a 3-star recruit who is listed at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, chose LSU over Arkansas, Washington, Colorado and Utah. He was recruited to LSU by cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples. Hughes is ranked the No. 78 cornerback in the country in the class of 2023, and the No. 7 player in the state of Nevada, according to the 247Sports Composite.
In an interview with TigerBait last week. Hughes said Brian Kelly’s philosophy is a draw for him and his parents.
“Both of my parents graduated from college with their degrees and the biggest thing they wanted is for me to graduate,” Hughes said. “His slogan is graduate champions.”
LSU now has 12 commitments.
“He (Steeples) likes what I’m about to do naturally,” Hughes said. “I played three or four games at corner last year.”
Hughes chose Thursday to announce his commitment as it is the anniversary date of his parents wedding.
“Watching LSU play against Arkansas growing up showed me a lot. I learned about LSU, it became my dream school, and I am going to DBU,” he told On3 Sports. “If you want to be that guy on the next level, and you play defensive back, then you go to LSU. They develop players, Baton Rouge is one big family, everyone loves each other, and I love it. The support around LSU is great and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
