Matthew Berry, a pioneer in the fantasy sports industry, has announced a departure from ESPN in an announcement made by both Berry and the company.

In the joint announcement, Berry and ESPN explained that they are separating after 15 years together. Berry was a senior fantasy sports analyst for ESPN, and he regularly appeared on TV, radio and wrote for ESPN.com.

“ESPN gave me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to write and talk fantasy sports on every possible ESPN platform,” Berry wrote on Twitter. “On a personal level, ESPN is where I made lifelong friends, met my wife, and started my family. I am forever indebted to ESPN.”

ESPN’s statement said that Berry expressed a desire to explore new opportunities beyond ESPN. “After discussing it with it, we agreed to support it.” The network added that Berry is “dedicated and talented, and we wish him the best in his next endeavor.”

ESPN reiterated that it’s still committed to fantasy sports, its personalities, platforms and games. Berry said this is his final week at ESPN, and ESPN said his final appearance on ESPN will happen on Monday.
